Goldfinch - Carduelis Carduelis
In the Goldfinch the sexual dimorphism is present even if not in all cases and easily recognizable. In the male the red mask goes beyond the eye, while in the female it hardly exceeds half of the eye. Another distinguishable sign is the much more pronounced and polished black of the wing-covering feathers of the male compared to those of the female, which have a more brownish color. The feathers above the nostrils in the male are black while in the more whitish female.
Habitat: this species can be found in different types of habitats also very different from each other because it is a very adaptable animal. The Mediterranean vegetation reflects the habitat that it prefers, but it is found throughout Europe, parts of Asia and North Africa.
Food: surely the seed that prefers is the thistle from which it derives its name, its diet is composed of various types of seeds, ripe and immature. Also you can nourish with chicory, dandelion and sunflower, even for them a real delicacy. To create the right blend suitable for the Cardellini breeding, it is necessary to take into account the environment in which they live, either in a racket or aviary, in an external or internal environment. Another advice is to always think of providing grass as much as possible, such as the beautiful at night or the wild chicory so that they can eat naturally during the day, having fun on these plants. Many problems of the Goldfinch derive precisely from their health psychology, to breed in bare and sad saddles.
