Common Redpoll - Acanthis flammea rostrata

Habitat: lives in tree-lined areas with larch, birch and spruce. Widespread in most of central-northern Europe, in Siberia, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. In Italy it is rare to see it in the forests of the Alpine arc.
Feeding: consists mainly of small seeds, shoots and leaves of larch / juniper, but also birch and alder. During the breeding season they also feed on small insects to help offset the increase in energy requirements.
