Red Siskin - Spinus cuculatus
The Red Siskin is a small and graceful bird of 10/11 centimeters, the male of a beautiful red color with black hood, the gray female without the hood and with black remiges and helmsman. Surely the great particularity of the cardinalino is that in nature it is very rare, while in captivity it is present in many farms.
Habitat: wooded areas and grassy foothills of Venezuela and other states of high South America.
Feeding: it feeds mainly on granivores, small seeds of herbaceous plants but also berries, fruits (cacti and figs) and sprouts. In the reproductive period with increasing energy needs also of insects and small invertebrates.
