The saffron finch is a small finch of 12/13 cm. The male is bright yellow with an orange crown which distinguishes it from most other yellow finches. The females are more confusing and are usually just a slightly duller version of the male
Habitat: it is common in open and semi-open areas of the plains outside the Amazon basin.
Feeding: granivorous, it feeds on small seeds but also on insects.
